To-gether / Family Re-unification
Turning a distant issue into something deeply human
Invited by Studio Treble as one of the participating artists, we partnered with MOAS for Refugee Week 2022 to help shift public perception around one of their most urgent missions - supporting safe, legal routes to family reunification. The challenge was significant: family separation is a dense, politically complex issue that often feels distant from everyday life. Our task was to surface the human truth at the centre of MOAS’s work - that behind every statistic is someone longing to be reunited with the people they love.
Through exploring MOAS’s mission and the lived realities shared across their campaigns, a central creative intention emerged: to show the journey from fragmentation to reunion in a way that felt accessible, relatable, and universal. This led to the idea for to-gether - a visual metaphor built from a single A4 sheet of paper. First divided, then carefully re-bound into a renewed whole, the design symbolised the emotional journey from separation to reunion, highlighting the truth that family and friends belong - to be loved - to-gether.
With the need to engage audiences beyond traditional humanitarian spaces, we developed a design language rooted in clarity and warmth. Set in Neue Haas Unica typeface, the system extended into an animation and sticker packs - enabling MOAS to reach new communities through lightness, shareability, and emotional resonance. By making a complex issue easier to approach, to-gether helped reposition MOAS’s message from distant and difficult to immediate and deeply human - reminding people that family, safety, and belonging are universal rights, not political topics.

Personal Insight
“The process of reflecting, distilling, and self-expressing through such heavy topics is a cathartic one for me. Whether or not it’s something I face personally, I often find myself channelling inner emotions into the work — finding comfort and hope in having an impact on issues that matter.”
